A client asked me the other day she could change her mindset from one of negativity to one of positivity. I said: it takes effort to move to an “above the line” position. Because your subconscious mind has tried to keep you safe from harm and is thousands of times more powerful than your conscious mind, and is running automatically, and has been doing this for a very long time, it is more powerful than your conscious mind.
For you to be powerful – which means being present and therefore being aware, you need to re-train your body/mind to get above the line.
This generally takes a lot of effort or willpower if you try to change how you think using positive thoughts therapy. Not that these things do not work. They do. They just take more effort, especially if you are exhausted, have no time or have lost control over your work/life balance.
Your most powerful position is when you are present. At that place you have control. Control brings choice. And, choice brings freedom.
So, how do I achieve that? – my client asked. You change how you breathe. When you do that you gain conscious control over stress and how you respond to stressful situations.
She said: It can’t be that easy! Why not try it? Which way will you choose? The easier way or the harder way?

Following on from yesterday’s conversation…
Gaining power over your subconscious automatic actions and reactions is key to changing your mindset!
How can I do that?
Changing mindset from negative to a positive position can take effort/willpower, because your subconscious mind is so much more powerful than your conscious mind. It has tried to keep you safe from harm all your life, but generally runs from a negative default position.
For you to be powerful – which means being present/aware, you need to move to an above-the-line position. How do you do that? You re-train your body/mind to repair your physiology and mend your heart. Instead of feeding your heart negative food, you choose positive emotions.
Using standard mind-set techniques will take a lot of effort and willpower. What else can be done?
There is an easier way to empowerment. You can change how you breathe! Breathing correctly helps you become present and aware. This is your position of power.
When you do that you gain conscious control over stress and how you respond to stressful situations.
